Unusual actors: flowers from famous films

Unusual actors: flowers from famous films

Not only human actors participate in our favorite films: sometimes inanimate objects, animals or flowers play a significant role there. Often their presence in the plot symbolizes something or adds a touch to the portrait of the protagonist.

Aglaonema in the movie "Leon"

The film "Leon" (The Professional) features a flower of aglaonema. The main character calls him his friend. The plant appears quite often in the frame.

Aglaonema belongs to the Aroid family, whose homeland is the tropical latitudes of India and the islands of Malaysia. The height of the flower is no more than 70 centimeters, the stems are short and fleshy, and the leaves are oblong or lanceolate. They can be just green or have colorful patterns, such as, for example, the aglaonema in the movie "Leon".

It is not known exactly what type of aglaonema is represented in the film, but the leaves are similar to the Stripe subspecies.

The flower in the film illustrates the loneliness of Leon (the only friend) and sentimentality (the killer's touching concern for the plant). In addition, aglaonema, as it were, is a reflection of the hero, in his own words, "like me, it has no roots." It is interesting that in English the name of the plant sounds like ag-leon-ema, playing with the name of the hero - it becomes clear why the director chose this particular flower... It should also be noted that aglaonema is poisonous. Here you can see a parallel with Leon's death-carrying profession.

Pelargonium in the film "Spring on Zarechnaya Street"

Geranium, or pelargonium, appears in the film Spring on Zarechnaya Street, when the main character, an adult student of the evening school Alexander Savchenko, is late for class and picks flowers from plants in the school corridor. He gives them to his teacher, with whom he is in love. It is noteworthy that in the language of flowers one of the meanings of the pelargonium "I am happy to see you", "Happy next to you"... It can be assumed that in the film geranium is used for this very reason - as a symbol of the unrequited love of the protagonist and the joy of meeting with his beloved, which he can express only by presenting a flower.

The film "Spring on Zarechnaya Street" shows a light-colored geranium

In total, there are more than 400 species of pelargonium - grasses and dwarf shrubs that grow all over the world, but an ordinary indoor geranium is filmed in the motion picture. It usually has leaves with a crenellated edge and red, pink or white flowers of various shades. Plant height - up to 60 centimeters. Pelargonium is notable for the essential oils contained in the leaves: they give the flower a characteristic smell and heal the air in the room.

Opuntia in the film "Love and Doves"

In the film "Love and Pigeons" the main character, being in the house of Raisa Zakharovna (the character of Lyudmila Gurchenko), constantly finds himself in an unpleasant situation - accidentally pricks against the cacti placed around the apartment. These plants are prickly pears. Their homeland is North and South America, and it is no coincidence that cacti are used in the film. They seem to emphasize the contrast between the lives of Raisa Zakharovna and Vasily. She has an aspiration for the unusual, exotic, foreign. It is difficult for village Vasily to find a place among this alien world, and pricks of thorns can also symbolize moral torment, "pricks of conscience" of the hero who left his family.

You need to be careful with prickly pear - small thorns easily dig into the skin

Opuntia can reach 2–4 meters in height. It blooms rarely, with yellow or red flowers. The whole plant is covered with thorns, their variety is small glochidia, which are easily separated from the plant.

Roses in American Beauty

According to the filmmakers of American Beauty, its very name could mean the variety of roses American Beauty. These flowers often appear in the picture: they are grown by the wife of the protagonist Caroline, the petals accompany the fantasies of the girl of his dreams, Angela. Red roses in the language of flowers mean passionate love and desire. Unsurprisingly, they accompany Lester's dreams, as if symbolizing his feelings for Angela. The presence of flowers next to Caroline can be interpreted in another way: they become a symbol of ostentatious success. Arranged around the house in vases, cut roses should testify to the prosperity and "American dream" as the protagonist's wife sees them. By the way, a cut rose - a withering beauty - can be associated with it.

Roses of the American beauty variety are still grown in America, but in other countries, for some unknown reason, they are practically not cultivated.

American Beauty is an old variety of garden roses of bright red color, with a crimson transition. The height of the shrub is from 0.9 to 2 meters. The variety was bred in France in the second half of the 19th century, from where it came to America. Until the 1920s, it was the best-selling in the United States.

Shooter in The Hunger Games

In the adventure dystopia "The Hunger Games", the main character is named Katniss. It comes from the English name of the arrowhead plant - katniss. The name of the girl was given by her father, symbolizing the hope that she will never starve (arrowhead tubers are edible, they can be boiled, baked, made into flour; before leaving the house, Katniss dines on a dish made from plant roots). We learn this from the heroine's story: “Katniss,” I said aloud. This long-standing name for the arrowhead gave me the name. It was as if I heard my father's cheerful voice: "You will not die of hunger, you just need to find yourself." The Latin name for the flower is sagittaria, which translates as “arrow”. This further increases the symbolism of the plant, because Katniss is an excellent archer, besides, she has a firm, purposeful character. It turns out the ambiguity of the words of the heroine's father:

  • If she finds herself - the plant of the same name - she will have something to satisfy her hunger.
  • If she has arrows, she will learn how to get food for herself and her loved ones.
  • If he finds himself as a person, in accordance with his character, he will never go hungry again and will save the whole people from this misfortune (and this is what happened - thanks to the strength of Katniss's spirit, a revolution was made in an oppressed society).

Interestingly, the arrowhead does not grow in North America, where the plot is set in the Hunger Games.

Arrowhead grows in water bodies. It has leaves that resemble arrowheads. The plant blooms in summer, with white flowers. Interestingly, this plant does not actually occur on the American continent, where the Hunger Games takes place.

To express your love for a movie masterpiece you like, you can have some plant from the movie at home, because now you know which flower to look for.

I planted it carefully and waited, watering and caring for it. But. nothing happened: it didn’t disappear, but it didn’t grow either. Then I took him with me to the dormitory of the institute, where he was there for another 4 years, and everything is the same. For a year, he went to the intensive care unit of my mother, who usually has all the flowers just fragrant, but the miracle did not happen. For two years he was with me at work, but in vain. whatever I did to him: water, fertilize, and transplant. about the same in my personal life))))

but when my then future husband came to pick me up from my parents' house, at the last moment I took him with me - I felt like the heroine of the film "Leon the Killer")))). Where am I - there is a flower)

and what happened to him. I couldn't believe my eyes! A week later, he began to release an uncountable number of new leaves, fluffed up and became a beautiful green color, and not swampy-tired, as before) and after a while I saw him blooming for the first time in 8 years!

Since then, I began to notice that before an important event in our life, it necessarily blooms: a proposal, a wedding, news of pregnancy, the birth of a daughter, a move.

I already lost count of how many times I sat him down, because now he feels good, just like me!)))

and put the "kids" in pots and gave them to their friends with wishes of happiness)

and now, when we have another important event ahead, it is preparing to bloom.

Happy first spring days! The summer season will begin soon and I would like to draw the attention of flower lovers to a decorative exotic palm called KLESHCHEVINA.

I first saw this plant on the lawns of our city in the fall of 2003. In the spring of 2004 I wanted to plant it in my garden. But, since I did not know the name of this plant, when I came to the market, I began to look, without finding it in the window, I asked the seller, indicating that it was a very beautiful, rather tall plant, with a beautiful inflorescence with red cones, and the leaves were spread out like that all five fingers on his hand, like "Scythe", the hero of the movie "Gentlemen of Fortune". Surprisingly, the saleswoman understood me and said that it was castor oil plant.

The homeland has not been precisely established, but there is rumor that it may be Africa.

I bought 2 types of castor oil last year - Zanzibar and some other. This was my 3 case of planting this exotic palm tree.

The seeds, in my opinion, resemble beans or, with a very highly developed imagination, ticks. Maybe this is where the name of the plant comes from - castor bean.

Of 8 seeds, only 7 seeds sprout, so when planting, you need to take into account that not all will sprout.

Seeds should be sown in pots in March-April. Seedlings are planted in open ground in June, after frosts. The distance between plants should be about 1 - 1.5 m long. Castor oil loves sunny open places, away from wind turbines.

Last year, the summer was cool and windy, and I had to tie the castor oil plant with ropes to the pegs. But this did not save from the gusty winds, two castor oil plants broke in the prime of life.

The castor oil plant grew in height by 1.5 m, no more, just the summer turned out to be cool.

I had two types of castor plant planted and from the photographs you can see that the leaves and inflorescences are of different shades.

The leaves are large, deeply cut, depending on the species, they can be green, purple, purple or red.

The fruit is a spherical box with thorns that look no less beautiful than the plant itself.

In terms of care, this is an unpretentious plant, I only huddled, removed weeds and watered every day.

Castor bean varieties with reddish leaves look very beautiful, although, in principle, all are good, stand and delight the eye until frost.

Therefore, I recommend this beautiful and unpretentious plant as a decoration in your garden.

Until the very frost, they stand and delight with their flowers Tagetes or Marigolds erect,

will look good on flower beds and Anemones or, as they are also called, anemone.

or hide you from the prying eyes of neighbors Sunflowers Red Sun

Planting process

Now it's time to choose the soil. You can dig up and mix the following components in the correct proportions:

  • peat
  • humus
  • sod, deciduous or coniferous soil
  • sand.

You can also buy ready-made land in the store. Keep in mind that hydrangea is a lover of acidic soil, like rhododendron. The ratio of the above components is 0.5: 1: 1: 1: 0.5.

The right place

Hortense does not like strong frosts, but prefers coolness. Direct sunlight is destructive for her, the leaves will hurt constantly. But if a warmer place is nevertheless chosen, take care of increasing watering. Protect the sprouts from the wind. Better to plant away from trees and bushes, otherwise they will take away all the water.

For the first time they sow in containers, pots, then it is possible in open ground (but it is better not, because in spring it is still cold, and hydrangea does not like freezing).

In order not to wash off the seeds, watering should be carried out from a spray bottle.

In fact, the planting process itself is simple and clear:

  • Already germinated seeds are simply placed on the soil, they do not need to be pressed, you can only cover them with sand for drainage, then they are covered with a film, which is removed after the seed has hatched.
  • Next, you need to properly care.

In about a month there will be good sprouts, they must be planted in pots 7 cm wide. The soil must be mulched.

Japanese garden

The Japanese Garden is a visitor's playground. Walking here, you see not only beauty, but also benefit - you can read about each plant in a special application developed by students of the seventh grade of the high-tech academy. There is a plate with a number next to each plant, and by driving this number into the application, you can read all the information. The electronic guide will soon start working in other areas of the botanical garden.

A sea of flowers, exotic and not so, wild and selective plants, including the famous sakura - all this a visitor can see on the territory of the Japanese garden. The lion's share of visitors are newlyweds and others like them - shooting photo shoots and love stories against the backdrop of beautiful plants is very popular.

The unusual landscape is complemented by bizarre architectural forms. According to the director of the botanical garden, there will soon be many more things like walking and filming areas.

One day in the life of a garden

The morning of October 22 began with new varieties of large-flowered chrysanthemums blooming today.
Snow-white variety 'Reflex' - the queen of the autumn ball of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden (Garden) 2010

Golden, as if sparkling from the inside, ‘Golden Elf’ variety.

An excellent variety ‘Lilac Dali’ bred by the Garden was created by Galina Feodorovna Feofilova.

A very pompous dark red variety 'Red Banner', bred by the Garden, was created back in 1967 by Ivan Aleksandrovich Zabelin.

Yellow-green variety ‘Revert’ of the introduction (introduction to the culture) of the Garden.

The 'Light Zarnits' variety, bred by the Garden, was created by G.F. Feofilov.

The bright red 'Escort Rot' is the queen of the 2011 Autumn Chrysanthemum Ball.

At lunchtime, it is in the midst of visiting the chrysanthemum exhibition. Chrysanthemums give visitors a great mood. The air is filled with their peculiar tart aroma.

A small visitor to the exhibition walks confidently along the paths.

Not every day a movie is made in the Garden. Today Patriot Film Studio filmed a film about the war: its first day.

Actors in military uniform are preparing to shoot.

Young artists outside of filming.

Scene in the Garden's summer cinema.

For the frame, everything is the same as at that time.

But, thank God, this is just a shooting. My dad fought and returned from the front wounded, shell-shocked near Zhitomir, but alive! I still remember his stories about the war ...

They brought a bronze statue of the Goddess Flora.

The installation of the Goddess Flora on the parterre of the Garden brought back to the present day.

The author Sergei Medvedev, a sculptor from Russia, carefully corrects his creation.

The Goddess Flora seems to hover over the Garden, solemnly completing an ordinary working day full of beauty, chrysanthemums, filming a war film, memories ...

Elementary care

What is good about shoes and leatherette - it does not need expensive waxes, creams and aerosols. On the contrary, they are even contraindicated, since a layer of synthetic fibers sprayed onto a fabric base can become thinner and shed under the influence of a chemical composition that is too aggressive for it. The maximum allowed is a foam sponge soaked in oil. In all other cases, the surface is wiped with a soft damp cloth and liquid soap. After drying, you can lubricate with ordinary baby cream or glycerin.

That's all the rules for care, which, in principle, boil down to one thing - to keep your shoes clean, even if they are not made of natural materials.
